Hand Lettering for the Holidays

Last year when planning my wedding I had a lot of drive to want to make my own save the dates and invitations. I loved hand lettering the invitations and ended up doing some Christmas card addressing for some friends.

I wanted to share some ideas for you to try on your own for snazz-up your holiday cards this year. Some different things to change up and try are:

Font add some swirly’s to your letters, make them really thin, or wide, or use hand lettering technique which is THICK STROKES DOWN & THIN STROKES UP

Color for holiday cards I of course like using greens, reds, golds but to switch it up, do silver and an ice blue and draw some snowflakes

Size don’t be afraid to make the names really large and address really tiny, sure everything looks nice at all one size, but the fun starts when you push the limits

To get started, I love the Tombow pens. I’ve attached my favorite brush lettering pens below:

Be on the lookout for my hand lettering tutorial 🙂

    1. Hand lettering is definitely a “practice makes perfect” activity. Even calligraphers with years of experience learn a new trick or improve their style and technique. -try writing in pencil first and going over with a felt tip pen using different pressure and weigh your results to see what you prefer.
